PROGRESS

During the Fall of 2011, several initiatives have begun, including:

  • Sustainable City Year - The Sustainable City Year project is being undertaken by the City of Springfield and University of Oregon Sustainable Cities Initiative.  The purpose of this task is to enhance the impact of partnership between the City of Springfield and the UO Sustainable Cities Initiative as part of the 2011 Sustainable City Year program and create opportunities for other university-community partnerships to advance our goals.
  • Triple Bottom Line Analysis -  The UO Sustainable Cities Initiative is leading this task.  The focus of this task is to refine and improve analytical tools available for local jurisdictions for considering environmental, economic and equity outcomes in transportation/infrastructure policy and decision making. In December 2011 a workshop was held with elected officials from Eugene, Springfield and Lane County to consider outcome indicators for transportation projects as part of their Solutions Summit series.

We are currently preparing to conduct a Sustainability Baseline Assessment. Our partners at the University of Oregon will lead the Consortium effort to evaluate our current regional plans and processes and identify recommended changes.
